Fishing Report June 8 2018

Posted on June 08 2018

After a cool and wet week the sun came out today. The rain didn't effect the river levels so they are all low still. Water temps have stayed low and are in the 53-58 degree range. There have been bugs flying around on the rivers this week  but the fish are not feeding on them much. We did catch some this week on dries even though no fish where rising. Sometimes you can use dries even if no fish are showing and find success. I guided the Rapid a lot this week and most all fish were caught on a #18 Pheasant tail. Fishing the Rapid is very slow right now due to low flows not moving fish up the river. It is still a beautiful place to spend the day. Olive caddis are working well on the Magalloway which has a good number of fish in it right now. Patience is the best way to find success right now.

Brett, Good Afternoon, This is my first time coming up to the Rangely Region. I am VERY excited to come up. I will be up next weekend fly fishing on the Cupsuptic Rv. Have you heard of activity above BIg Falls? I was planning on fishing around there. What would you recommend this time of year, dries, nymphs or streamers?

Thanks for any helpful info. Looking forward to stopping by the shop to stock up on flies.
