Not much history on this fly. It is however a popular pattern among area fisherman.  

A variation of the popular Joe's smelt pattern.

A good casting streamer   - larger sizes are sometimes used trolling. The down wing design of this fly makes it a killer imitation of a smelt.

A variation of the Kennebago Muddler. It has an underwing of green and orange - crayfish colors.

The Marabou version is my favorite for the spring salmon run on the Kennebago river.
