Calftail hair is used for streamers to make tails and wings. On dry flies I use it to make wings on Wulff patterns. The best hair for wings should be as straight as possible so that it stacks well. Calftail hair is not as hollow as deer hair which means it has little or no flair when you apply pressure to it with the tying thread.
