Colonel Bates Tandem- Originated by Madison, Maine's own Carrie G. Stevens, this fly was designed during the Second World War and named after her good friend Colonel Bates. Of the over 100 different patterns Stevens created, this has maintained it's popularity, and is only perhaps exceeded by the legendary Gray Ghost.
When fishing the Rangeley area for landlocked salmon and really all species of trout, this is the fly to use as it does well especially in the shallow waters. (It is also highly rated for striped bass and a host of other saltwater species.)
