Redington Original Freshwater Kit 9' 5wt

The Redington Original Freshwater Kit pairs a 9-foot, 5-weight fly rod with a reel, line, backing, and leader. Its medium-fast action is easy to cast. In addition, the four-piece rod packs into a nylon case for storage and travel. Add your chosen fly to complete the outfit.

Redington Original Freshwater Kit for trout

This freshwater 5wt kit is the trout option in the Original series. It suits anglers starting out, as well as those wanting a grab-and-go outfit. Meanwhile, its classic looks give a nod to fly fishing's past.

Picture a calm morning on a trout stream. A fish rises, and you reach for your rod. With the main parts of your setup together, you can focus on choosing a fly. Then, settle into the rhythm of casting and watching the drift.

Rod, reel, and line in one outfit

The kit includes a Crosswater reel with a tough composite frame. Its carbon disc drag helps you manage line during a fight. In addition, the outfit comes with Dacron backing and RIO Mainstream fly line.

A RIO Powerflex tapered leader completes the listed line setup. As a result, you do not need to choose each of these parts on its own. However, you still need to add the fly you want to fish.

Easy casting and simple travel

The rod has a medium-fast action blank and an anodized aluminum reel seat. Its 9-foot length gives you a familiar format for trout fishing. The four-piece design also makes the rod easier to pack.

After fishing, place the rod in its nylon carrying case. Divided liners keep the sections apart during storage and travel. Therefore, the outfit works well for both planned trips and quick visits to the river.
