The Sage ESN reel brings adjustable balance, fast line pickup, and full-frame line security to your Euro nymphing setup. Sage designed this reel around the needs of European-style nymph anglers. As a result, each feature serves a clear purpose, from managing fine leaders to balancing your rod.
Fine-tune your Sage ESN reel for better balance
The reel includes three interchangeable accessory weights: 1/2 oz, 1 oz, and 1 1/2 oz. Use the indexable weight system to adjust the balance point of your setup. You can fine-tune it for a Euro nymphing rod or a standard fly rod.
Picture a morning working through a promising run. Before you make your first drift, adjust the reel's weights to suit your rod. Then settle into the rhythm of watching your sighter and guiding your flies through the current.
Pick up line quickly and protect fine leaders
A thin, ultra-large arbor helps you get fish onto the reel quickly. It also reduces the need to guide line onto the spool with your finger. Meanwhile, the full frame keeps fine leaders and lines from slipping through gaps in the frame.
The sealed carbon SCS drag delivers smooth uptake and consistent drag output. In addition, the numbered, indented settings on the one-revolution drag knob help you track adjustments.
Durable construction for days on the water
Sage machines the ESN from 6061-T6 aerospace-grade aluminum. Cold forging and tempering add strength and rigidity. A hard-anodized finish provides surface protection and corrosion resistance, while the concave arbor adds strength and capacity.
