FREE SHIPPING ON MOST ORDERS OVER $50

The Sage Trout fly reel combines classic full-frame styling with modern sealed carbon drag. Inspired by the historic Sage 500 series, it features a narrow profile and minimal porting for a traditional look. Meanwhile, its large arbor provides fast line pickup when a fish changes direction.
Sage Trout fly reel drag control
The One Revolution Sealed Carbon System (SCS) drag is the backbone of this reel. A machined and anodized aluminum knob puts adjustments within reach. With 20 numbers and 40 detented settings, you have clear reference points for fine-tuning your drag.
Picture a quiet evening on the river as a trout takes your fly and turns downstream. You bring loose line onto the reel, then settle into the fight. The large arbor supports quick retrieval, while the ergonomic aluminum handle offers a comfortable grip.
Choose a size for your fishing setup
The Trout series includes three sizes for different rod setups. Start with the kind of fishing you plan to do, then consider how the reel balances your rod.
- 2/3/4: suited to small trout rods.
- 4/5/6: the all-around trout option for a wide range of rods.
- 6/7/8: suited to bigger trout setups or light salmon and steelhead use.
In addition, the reel's minimal porting provides a heavier balance alongside its classic appearance. Check your selected size before ordering to make sure it suits your intended setup.
Full-frame construction and practical details
Sage uses machined aluminum full-frame construction for this design. The concave, ported arbor adds strength and capacity. A machined and anodized aluminum hub and handle complement the traditional styling.
You can also convert the reel between left- and right-hand retrieve. As a result, you can configure it for your preferred winding hand without choosing a different reel model.
Colors and included case
The listed color options are Bronze and Stealth/Silver. Each reel includes a neoprene and embroidered ballistic nylon reel case. Explore the Sage Trout fly reel at Rangeley Region Sports Shop for heritage-inspired looks, adjustable drag, and a size range built around trout fishing.
