Sage Trout Spey HD Fly Rod

The Sage Trout Spey HD fly rod brings a fast action and KonneticHD technology to two-handed trout fishing. Swing soft hackles or streamers with a rod built for trout spey casts. In addition, five models let you match your rod to your flies and line.

Sage Trout Spey HD casting and line control

These rods use a spey action rather than a switch-rod action. As a result, they suit both Skagit and Scandi casts with trout-sized flies. The stable tip helps you control line while protecting your tippet.

Picture a narrow stretch of river with little room to cast. A short, two-handed rod and short-head line let you fish your fly closer to where you stand. Then, you can work the swing through the water near you before making your next cast.

Choose a model for your flies

First, think about the size and weight of the flies you plan to swing. Next, match your line to the rod's grain range. The series spans lengths from 10 feet 3 inches to 11 feet 3 inches.

• 1109-4: 150–200 grains. For soft hackles and small, unweighted streamers under 1 inch.
• 2109-4: 200–250 grains. For soft hackles and small to medium streamers from 1 to 2 inches.
• 3103-4: 250–300 grains. For soft hackles and streamers from 1 to 2 inches with moderate weight.
• 3110-4: 250–300 grains. For soft hackles and streamers from 1 to 2 inches with moderate weight.
• 4113-4: 300–350 grains. For larger streamers under 3 inches.

For example, compare the lower-grain models for light flies. For larger streamers, look at the heavier options instead.
