Nine-Three #2 8X Long- This smelt imitator originated by Dr. J. Hubert Sanborn of Waterville, Maine. One of the most popular streamer flies for use in many Maine lakes for landlocked salmon. Famously having been named because the first salmon Sanborn caught with it weighed 9lbs 3 ounces. Sanborn also vouched that it is “the best fly year round for trout, togue, salmon, perch and bass.” And he even caught Atlantic salmon on it.
