Rangeley Region Fishing Report - May 29, 2026

Believe it or not the weather has not changed much here since last week's report.  The water temps have improved though with readings in the mid to high 50's. These higher water temps have led to the hatching of the first caddis of the season, the American Grannom. Mayfly hatches continue to happen when the air temps warm up. Mayflies you might see are  March Browns, Hendricksons, and Blue Quills. Looking ahead, the rain we are getting through the weekend could raise water levels and lower the temps. Tailwater flows are still at normal to low levels. Subsurface fishing would be best but always be ready for bug activity if the sun pops out. The Morton Cutoff Road is scheduled to remain closed through June 4th. Have a good time in the outdoors.
