Rangeley Region Fishing Report - June 1 2023

Rangeley Region Fishing Report - June 1 2023

Summer is here in the mountains. The hot summer weather feels good after  the cold of winter and has the bugs hatching and and fish feeding. Water temps are in the mid to upper 50's and flows are good but getting on the low side in places. Most dams are releasing low flows and the lakes remain full. Hendricksons and March Brown will be winding down in the next week and Caddis will become more abundant. Fish will still be eating Smelt and Black Nose Dace which are starting to move into the rivers to spawn so match these bait fish with your streamers. Nymphing is good this time of year as there are lots of bugs moving around getting ready to hatch. Pheasant tail in size 18 and green caddis are must have patterns. With the predicted cool down next week the water temps will cool back down and make for some good fishing going through next week.
