Barr Emerger

This month's featured fly is the Barr Emerger created by John Barr of Colorado. It was created in 1975 to imitate emerging mayflies. It can be fished in the film as originally intended or as a nymph dropper. It can have a bead for extra weight or with a flashback over the thorax like the fly on the left.

Materials Recipe

Hook - Curved Caddis size 16-20

Bead - gold 3/32 - 1/16

Thread - gray

Tail - brown spade hackle fibers

Body - flyrite dubbing # 34

Thorax - gray superfine dubbing

Wingcase - dun spade hackle fibers, pearl tinsel

Legs - dun spade hackle
