Fishing Report - May 2 2019

  There is still not much to report here about the fishing season. The Magalloway is the only show in town as far as I know. It has been cold and cloudy here and some mornings we are still making ice on any open water. The lakes are filling up fast with the spring melt and the dams should release more water soon. This can help move fish up the rivers. I have not heard of any smelt running in the area yet. Most roads are still not passable. Ice out on the lakes should be around the 10th of the month which is later than usual. With warmer weather in the forecast we could see fish moving more in another week. Smelt need 42 degree water to run up a brook and this spawning will bring trout and salmon in range of the fisherman.
