Rangeley Region Fishing Report - Sept. 3 2021
There have been big changes in the weather this past week. Cloudy and cool days but with little rainfall. River temps have dropped into the mid 60's at the Rapid and in the 55-60 degree range on the freestone rivers and streams. The Magalloway remain in the 65-70 range. The brookies should start moving into staging areas soon as water temps continue to drop. We did not get any of the rain from the hurricane but some is in the forecast for the coming week. This is the time of the season when you just have to keep moving and checking different places for fish. The best thing that can happen is for us to get enough rain to bump up the flows, the water temps are going the direction they need to. It will be a good season to fish ponds if the flows don't improve so make sure to bring a canoe or kayak with you. Also be ready to try anything from dries to sinking line. The Magalloway is flowing at 900 for rafting from 9-3 this weekend.
