Rangeley Region Fishing Report - August 12 2022

Our weather has finally broken away from the hot and humid of last week. Today's high temp is 59 degrees and the cloud cover makes it seem cooler. Yesterday afternoon I took a trip in the backcountry and found June level flows and water temps in the low 60's. It looks like we are going to get a start over of the summer during the next week. This cooler weather could wake up the salmon in the bigger rivers this weekend. The water temps won't get cool enough to move salmon from the lakes but could give us a couple of days of activity. It is terrestrial time also so have grasshoppers, crickets and ants with you. Also as the caddis run out the fish will be feeding on midges both on top and subsurface. Be sure to get out and enjoy the woods this weekend if you can. The water is cool and blueberries ready to eat.

Till next time,

Brett
