Rangeley Region Fishing Report - July 7 2022

This summer's weather here in the mountains is the complete opposite of last's weather so far. Cool temps and full lakes and rivers are giving us a good extension of the fishing season.  We received over an inch of rain in the last week. Rivers and streams are at good levels. Cool nighttime temps help the water  cool down over night. Caddis are the main bug around now with stoneflies in some places but there are BWO's around where the water is cooler and is an important fly to have ready to use. The alder flies at the Rapid are winding down in the next couple of days. The hex's and drakes are still hatching on the area lakes on those warm summer nights the hornberg in tan or olive are a good all round fly for these big bugs.  The Magalloway has a good supply of fish and an abundance of caddis and stoneflies, flows have been low in the 350 cfs range.

Till next time,

Brett
