This month's fly is the Biot Bug. The Biot Bug was created by Scott Sanchez of Jackson Wyoming. I found this nymph pattern in a tying magazine quite a few years ago but can't seem to find it again. I tied up a bunch in different colors and had good success right from the start. I fished them in brown, yellow and gray. The one in the picture is brown or you might say a Pheasant tail variation. The main feature of this design is the goose biot that forms both the side of the body and tail. The biot is tied in at the front and pulled back over the body. Then it is bound down by the wire as it is wrapped forward.
Hook - 2x long nymph
Thread - 16/0 brown Veevus
Bead - 1/8 inch gold
