The Hornberg is one of the most versatile flies you can carry for a day on the water in Maine. You can tie it in a variety of colors and sizes. It can be used to imitate any bug from a Caddis to a big Hex. This fly fished subsurface has fooled many Salmon while looking like an emerging insect or a darting baitfish.
Recipe & Materials List
Hook - 2 or 3x long dryfly
Thread - Black 8/0 thread for larger and 16/0 Veevus for small sizes
Body - Silver mylar tinsel
Underwing - yellow calf tail
Wing - natural mallard flank or belly feather
