Seasons

I always feel a bit lost this time of year.  The bird season has come to an end with its excitement and activity: the hustle of dogs and noise of bells and beepers; the flush of grouse which never ceases to startle a person; that grand time of year that begins with an amazing display of color and ends with stark shades of gray and brown.  It seems a shame to end the season when the grouse are becoming more active, and the dogs are in their best shape and at the top of their game.  When you live an outdoor life you find that it is just one season followed by another: fishing, hunting, trapping, then a period of rest.  All those beavers I discovered during hunting will take some of my attention until the snow is too deep and the ice too thick.  Then m
