Gartside Soft Hackle Streamer

This month's fly is the Gartside Soft Hackle Streamer. The soft hackle design was created by Jack Gartside of Massachusetts. He was a creator of innovative flies that are now common place in the fly boxes of anglers around the country. The Soft Hackle streamer has been my go to for 20 years ever since a friend showed me how to tie it. The next day after guiding I fished it on the Kennebago and drove the Salmon crazy. It's motion in the water as the current moves against it is lifelike and bring aggressive responses from the fish. If I cover a pool from top to bottom with this fly and get no looks I might as well move on.
