high water on the magalloway river in western maine

Fishing Report - May 4 2017

There is a lot going on in the mountains this week but it doesn't involve catching fish. The good news is that the ice is out on most bodies of water. The bad news is that the rivers are all at very high flow levels. There is not a place to fish moving water in the area. I checked out the Magalloway this evening and it was at 3000 cfs and 38 degrees temperature. Usually when there is high water you can target the mouths of  brooks but that is not working either. The smelt have run in some places but not in others. The great news is that we needed the water and it should be great fishing when the levels return to normal.
