rapid river in western maine maine fly fishing

Fishing Report - June 14 2018

We have had 1/2 inch of rain in the last 24 hours but I don't expect it will impact the water levels. Flows are still low but the water temps are also. This weekend is predicted to be very hot so that might change. There are lot of bugs around for the fish to feed on. Blue wing olives and caddis are the most consistent with hendricksons starting to drop off. Catching has been a bit slow on the Magalloway and Rapid lately. My advice for those going to these rivers this weekend would be to practice patience and put  your time in. Try lots of flies and different methods. If things are slow take a break and enjoy nature. It is still better than work as they say.
