The weather is still very changable here in the mountains. After hot summer weather last week we had over an inch of rain and two back to back frosts. It has been a good week for fishing with good water levels and cold water. There are lots of mayflies and caddis around and dry fly fishing is picking up. The sucker spawn is pretty much over but the fish will still take egg flies for awhile. The Rapid and Magalloway will fish well now with nymphs like small pheasant tail and green caddis. It is always good to try stonefly nymphs also as they are crawling around getting ready to hatch in the coming weeks. Salmon will be moving up the Kennebago soon and respond well to smelt pattern streamers that look like what they have been feeding on in the lake. When you head out there be ready for any type of fishing ,streamers to dries. The bugs are still bad in most places. The roads have been graded and are in pretty good shape but be careful as they have started hauling wood on them.
