The late summer just keeps rolling on in usual style. This is typically our time of lowest water and warmest water temps. Currently flows are low but water temps aren't too bad. The Magalloway is in the 58-64 degree range and flows are being kept in the 350 cfs range. They will run rafting flows over the week end approximately from 9 - 3p.m. Not much has changed in the area of flies to use. Caddis in the 16-18 size range. Small pheasant tails and caddis emergers. The only change is the growing amount of midges. These smallest of our bugs become more important as the season progresses thru September. As pond temps drop with the cooler weather fish will start feeding on top again. Small soft hackle wet flies and midges are good to use. Streams are very low right now so the local brookies are hiding in the deeper water and under cut banks and structure.
Till next time
