Rangeley Region Fishing Report - September 11 2020

After a bit of a warm up this week the forecast is for cool weather and a chance of showers on Sunday. Water levels are very low but temps are not bad. There are plenty of fish in the lower Kennebago but catching them is a challenge. You have to try everything and work hard to find success but the beauty of the Kennebago in September make up for the slow action. They have increased the flow below both Upper and Middle Dams so this could improve the fishing in those places. If the lack of rain continues to keep the freestone streams low we may have to stick to the tailwaters this fall. Other places to try if low water continues are small ponds and the mouths of streams where trout will be waiting to spawn.
