Rangeley Region Fishing Report - Sept. 22 2022

It has been many years since we have had September rain like we had this week. In the last four days we have received over 4 inches and the rivers are all full and more. We have fished thru it all and caught some nice brookies and salmon. Water temps are in the 50 to 56 degree range. With cold temps forecasted for the rest of the week they should get colder. My guides and customers have been doing well at the Magalloway also, although the water temps are still in the 60's. Be ready to try all fishing methods at all the different places you try. Yesterday my sports caught fish on Hornbergs, nymphs and of course, the Golden Retriever. Fresh fish will be easier to catch in the beginning but more picky as time goes on. My top nymph choices are prince, brassie, olive soft hackle and partridge and orange soft hackle. Gear to remember; walking staff, sinking line, hat and gloves and of course a good raincoat.
