Klinkhamer Special

The Klinkhamer is the most effective and user friendly emerger I know of. It is a parachute design with a very visible post that the fisherman can easily see. I use it during the Hendrickson and march Brown hatches that happen around here in the spring. It is tied in tan and grey for mayflies and olive for caddis. It can be tied in any body color to match the color of the insect you are fishing for. I can’t tell you how many customers I have turned on to this emerger. Try it yourself and it will change the way you approach “matching the hatch” when mayflies are in the air.

RECIPE:

Hook – standard scud hook such as Tiemco 2487 or Mustad O49S – sizes 12 - 18

Thread - to match body color

Body – grey, tan, or olive Fly-Rite or Super Fine dubbing

Thorax – peacock herl

Wingpost – white poly yarn

Hackle – dun, one size larger than hook size
