Partridge & Orange

Posted on February 01 2012

partridge and orange soft hackle wet fly

The Partridge & Orange is an old soft hackle pattern. The color can be orange, yellow, grey, or any other that matches the emerging insects that you are copying. It is mostly fished on the swing, but can also be used as a nymph on the bottom of the water column. I have just added the pattern to the emerger department at the shop in sizes 10 – 16. It is also tied in a hare’s ear and pheasant tail body style.

Thread – 70 denier orange
Body – orange thread
Rib – small gold wire
Thorax – gray super fine dub
Hackle – Hungarian partridge
