This month’s fly is the Little Brook Trout. It was created by Sam Slaymaker of Pennsylvania in the 1960s. It was one in a series along with the Brown and Rainbow Trout. The fact is big Brook trout and salmon eat their own! This is a pretty fly like the fish it means to copy.
hook - streamer 4 – 12
thread – Black
tail – red floss under green feather fibers
body – cream dubbing
rib - silver tinsel
wing - equal amount of white, orange, and bright green bucktail, topped with gray squirrel.
throat – orange hackle fibers
