This month's fly is the Stimulator. It was developed by Randall Kauffmann of Oregon. This fly is one of the most popular dry flies in the western states. It is a standard for imitating stoneflies, but also is good for caddis in smaller sizes. This fly can be tied in a variety of colors and materials.
Hook - long dry fly hook, curved shank
Thread - orange
Body - antron, orange, yellow, olive, etc.
Tail - bleached elk or deer
Ribbing - brown hackle,
Wing - bleached elk or deer
Thorax - dubbing, grizzly hackle - palmered
