Fishing Report - August 31 2017

It already looks like fall in our area of the world. Everything is in place for an early start to the fall fishing season all we need now is some good rain to give the rivers a lift. Water temps are as low as I have ever seem them for this time of year. Morning water temps are in the low to mid 50's and the cool trend is forecast to continue. The Magalloway  has been fishing well although today was slow due to the weather. Water temps on the Mag were in the low to mid 60's and there were Caddis in the air. The area freestones like the Kennebago and Cupsuptic should have a run of brookies up them with the next raise in water. This week in the places I fished the brookies were already in their fall feeding mode. Feeding on midges and their emergers. This is the fall game, either small and near the surface or big and on the bottom. They will be releasing water on the Mag this week end between 10 am and 3 pm so fish early or late. I would think that the Rapid will start fishing well as those water temps drop and the Brookies become active again.

Till next time

Brett
