Fishing Report July 6 2017

It is a good time to be fishing in the Rangeley region. Water levels are good but higher than typical for this time of the summer. Water temps are near perfect. The middle Magalloway and Kennebago were at 64 degrees today while the lower Mag is right around the 60 degree mark. There are lots of stoneflies and caddis around both in the air and in the water.  The alder flies should be around on the Rapid through the end of the week. The prolonged high flows on the Kennebago have moved a good run of salmon up the river. The included picture is of a fresh Kennebago salmon with the infamous Pat's Rubberleg in its mouth. Most of the dirt roads have been graded this week and are in good shape. The bugs are still pretty bad in places so be prepared. When choosing caddis patterns to fish with you should know that as the summer progresses they get smaller and more tan in color.

Till next time,

Brett
