Fishing Report – Sept. 10, 2013

September 10, 2013

River levels in the Rangeley Region remain very low. The good news is that they are colder than normal for the beginning of Sept.. The Kennebago River  was at 56 degrees yesterday and Rangeley lake has been at 62 degrees. While the trout and salmon will not move up a river until they get some good flow to cover up the riffles and shallow spots, they will go to the river outlets and stack up there. A good way to find fish right now is to check out the deep holes at the mouths of the streams and rivers. Streamers and midges would be my first choice in these situations. The Magalloway can be very slow this time of year until some new fish come up. I got a report of good fish movement up the Rapid but the flow is still low at 400 c.f.s. . They will most likely release some water on the Kennebago soon and I will keep you posted on that. The upper Mag. at # 10 bridge isn’t showing any fish yet and won’t without a good shot of water. There are good fishing and catching adventures to be had right now it just might take a little poking around to find them, but isn’t that the fun part anyway. Feel free to call the shop with any questions. Don’t forget you can order flies online at www.rangeleyflyshop.com
