After a stretch of warm days and nights today was cooler and less humid. Today's high was lower than yesterdays low. These warm nights have boosted the water temps back up. The next couple of nights will be in the 40's and should return water temps to a better place for fish to become active. The next rise in river levels should move fresh fish out of the lakes and begin the fall spawning run that we all dream about. Flows are really good for this time of year and we received another half inch of rain last night. There are not as many bugs around as usual and this could effect the catching in the coming weeks. It appears that the flash floods of early July have had some kind of effect on the bug life in those watersheds that were effected. This coming week end should be a good time to fish with good flows and some clouds mixed in with the sun. Be ready to go subsurface if nothing is happening on top. The Golden Retriever has worked best lately. Hit all the favorite spots and be patient. The Magalloway will be running high water between 10 and 3 each day so go early or late. If you make it to the mountains this week end you may be surprised to see that the leaves are starting to change colors already.
