Fall was in the air today as we a high temp of only 57 degrees with clouds and a westerly breeze. We received 0.5 inches of rain earlier in the week and all the rivers and lakes are full. The water temps are in the 55-65 degree range on the free running rivers and streams while the Magalloway and Rapid rivers are probably in the 65-68 degree range. I would expect the Kennebago water temps will drop below 60 in the next couple of days which could bring up the brook trout but none have been reported yet. The # 10 bridge area usually takes a while to cool down but the flow is better then most years. When fish move into the rivers from the lakes they will take streamers well as they are used to feeding on baitfish. After a while they will stop feeding and become harder to catch. Everyone has seen big trout feeding on what seems like an invisible bug. They are actually sipping down very small midges, figure our how to trick these fish and you will have tons of fun.
Till next time,
Brett
