Rangeley Region Fishing Report - July 13 2023

Our summer weather here in the mountains continues to be very changeable but for the most part , pleasant. We received 1.5 to 2 inches of rain on Monday which pushed the area rivers and streams up to their banks once again. The tailwaters have average releases. They are running rafting flows this weekend on the Rapid. Water temps were in the 70's before the rain but now are anywhere from 58-68 degrees.  There are large hatches of stoneflies at the Magalloway which makes for lots of fun. Big,high floating flies like foamulator, peacock pmx and the traditional stimulator work well. You want to have 3 or more different patterns to try as you usually only get one look from a fish on a fly. Caddis are ever present this time of year but midges and bwo's are still a factor if the conditions are right. When and if the rivers get back down to normal levels there should be a good amount of fish in the rivers. High water can be our friend. The Lincoln and Green top roads will be closed part of the day on Sat. for the annual road rally.

Till next time

Brett
