March Brown
This month's fly is the March Brown dry fly. This version is actually named the Flick's American March Brown. There are many different versions going back to the early days of fly fishing but I think the Art Flick version is the most popular today. It is a very attractive fly due to the combination of colors with the orange thread and rich brown hackle and tail. The March brown mayfly appears in our area along side the Hendricksons and is often confused with the Brown Drake due to its size.
Hook - dry fly # 10-12
Thread - orange
Tail - Brown spade hackle fibers
Wing - Woodduck flank feathers
Body - Hareline light cahill dubbing
Hackle - Brown and Grizzly mixed
