Mole Fly

Posted on October 07 2021

Mole Fly - Rangeley Region Sports Shop

This month's pattern is the Mole fly emerger. This fly was created by Charlie Craven from Colorado. It has been around for a long time and a standard for those who need to imitate emerging midges. Actually any small emerging insect can be copied by varying the size and color of the fly. The winging supports the body which hangs in the surface film.

Hook - curved emerger size 14-20
Thread - small, color to match body
Body - Beaver or rabbit dubbing
Wing - two C.D.C. feathers
